In the early hours of March 26th, a 985-foot-long cargo vessel called the Dali unexpectedly lost power, crashing into Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge. While appearing slow in motion, experts say the force of the impact can be compared to a rocket launch. It may take years to fully understand the engineering and physics behind this collision, but the immediate result is devastatingly clear: the bridge collapsed, pinning the Dali underneath. Six construction workers lost their lives. The bridge's debris remains in the Patapsco River, with officials working to remove what they can before divers resume their search.
For many in Baltimore, the Bridge is a landmark, lost. Yet this collapse also presents a myriad of challenges that local and federal government, as well as the business and commercial real estate community of Baltimore, must come together to solve. From logistics and port delays to questions regarding transit and infrastructure, join Bisnow for this critical webinar discussion featuring Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott to discuss collapse and the ripple effects it will have on not just Baltimore's economy, but also the region's and the nation's, and the ways and means Baltimore's public and private sector players are banding together to build a better Baltimore moving forward.
