The Zookeeper's Wife!

We were at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum on Wednesday for a special screening of Focus Features’ new movie, "The Zookeeper’s Wife." The film stars two-time Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain as Antonina Żabińska, who became a hero to hundreds during World War II.

Set in 1939 Poland, the film depicts the real-life story of the working wife and mother and her husband, Dr. Jan Żabińsk’s (played by actor Johan Heldenbergh) who ran the Warsaw Zoo when their country was invaded by the Nazis. The film is based off the original work by author Diane Ackerman, pictured here with screenwriter Angela Workman

The couple must then report to the Third Reich’s newly appointed chief zoologist, Lutz Heck (played by actor Daniel Brühl) but decide to fight back, working with the resistance. Here, the film's producer Jamie Patricof

This heroic tale tells the beautiful story of their fight to save lives in what becomes the Warsaw Ghetto. Following the screening, an open discussion was led by Comcast Cable EVP Lynn Charlatan. The film opens in theaters nationwide March 31.
