New Kitchens On The Block!
Yesterday afternoon, we headed to Mess Hall in Brookland for the second installment of New Kitchens on the Block. We snapped the Dio Wine Bar team: Maria Pantelis, owner Stacey Khoury-Diaz and Katheryn Schmitz. Attendees were able to taste signature offerings from DC's hottest up-and-coming bars and restaurants. Dio, short for the Greek god of wine, Dionysus, emphasizes biodynamic produced, all-natural and organic wine from all over the world.
Here, the team behind Restaurant June: Alex Bookless Turner, her husband and chef, Michael Turner, and Angel Franco. The restaurant pop-up focuses on new American cuisine with a special emphasis on the Mid-Atlantic region, and attendees got to taste a delicious bourbon punch.
Adding to the delicious fare: Rasa Indian Grill and co-founders Sahil Rahman and Rahul Vinod. Attendees tasted an amazing, spiced braised lamb and an array of house-made chutneys.
Lupo Verde Cucina & Bar's executive chef Matteo Venini prepares his grilled octopus dish.
The team at Reverie, chef and owner Johnny Spero and Chris Wroblewski, prepare tsukune, or grilled Japanese meatballs.
Mess Hall's Kate Morton joins Konnect Media Group's Holly Barzyk and former Bisnow writer and current City Paper food editor Laura Hayes.
