National Park Trust Vento Award!
Last night, we headed to the Newseum for the giving of the National Park Trust's 17th annual Bruce F. Vento Public Service Award.
We snapped Bruce Vento's wife, Sue Vento, as she presents the award to Sen. Lamar Alexander with NPT board chair Bill Brownell.
NPT established the Vento Award to honor the memory and legacy of Bruce F. Vento, a congressman from Minnesota, a dedicated environmentalist and a champion of legislation for America’s parks. Here, NPT Leadership Council member Michael Carper joins McGraw-Hill Education's Bill Mulford and Child Development Consultants' Amy Eagan.
Students from Creative Minds Public Charter School and their teacher, Mary Thomas, describe the unique outdoor educational experiences they've had in the Buddy Bison School Program.
Attendees enjoyed access to an open bar and delicious passed appetizers, including Peking duck rolls. Here, Hunton & Williams' Hannah Flint and Fred Eames surround Southern Co.'s Melissa Horton.
Prior to the program guests enjoyed a dinner buffet while also enjoying the view from the top of the Newseum. Here, NPT board member Chris Graham joins Alison MacDonald and DHS' Andy MacDonald.
The award honors a public servant for his or her commitment to the environment, and service, skill and innovation in support of our public lands. Here NPT Executive Director Grace Lee recognizes Alexander for his "extraordinary efforts to support our national parks and public lands.”
DecisionPoint's Marylen and Brian Flood join NPT board member Steve Schuler.
