Finnish Embassy Jazz Fest!
Last night, we joined DC Jazz Fest at the Embassy of Finland for the latest performance in the Charles Fishman Embassy Series. We snapped DC Jazz Fest board member Conrad Kenley with the evening's host, Finnish Ambassador Kirsti Kauppi with guest jazz musician Olli Hirvonen and DC Jazz Fest executive director Sunny Sumter.
Guests enjoyed a festive evening with a cocktail reception preceding the jazz concert. Here, Marriette Hagglund joins Johns Hopkins fellow Timo Haivala with the Finnish Embassy's cultural counselor Annina Aalto and Danesh Gilani.
Following the concert, guests enjoyed a selection of Finnish appetizers and desserts in addition to the open bar. Here, the Embassy of Finland's Susanne Salmi, Noora Hendolin and Sanna Miettinen.
Here, members of the jazz quartet that performed: base guitarist Marty Kenney, pianist Luke Marantz and drummer Nathan Ellman-Bell.
This year's DC Jazz Festival will run from June 9-18 with over 125 concerts in 40 venues across the city. Here, DC Jazz Fest supporters Bob Nurick and Helen and Michael Haltzel.
