Investing In Hope At The Gold Cup!

One of the spring’s most-anticipated events in the DMV occurred this past weekend, the Gold Cup! Beyond the hats, horses and hors d’oeuvres, there is a deeper reason that hundreds of people come together: philanthropy.

We joined Becky’s Fund for one of its largest years yet. Due to an increase in interest, the organization hosted a VIP tent on Member's Hill for the first time. Guests partied for a purpose with this year’s theme, "Investing in Hope," and were treated to an open bar, delicious fare, yard games, prizes and luxury accommodations. Becky’s Fund founder, Becky Lee, told us that Gold Cup helps raise funds for Men of Code, their program which uses an innovative new approach to domestic violence prevention by empowering men and boys in high school sports to become leaders in changing behaviors and social norms around healthy relationships. Becky is flanked by former Washington football players and two-time Super Bowl champions Clarence Vaughn and Gary Clark

Founded 11 years ago, Becky’s Fund has made a great impact on domestic violence prevention, from survivors supported to the number of young people educated on the subject. As the organization’s impact has grown, so has its supporter base. The nonprofit not only provides services for victims, but through education about bystander accountability. Here, iHeart Media's Cliff Chiet, flanked by Miss DC International Jordyn Goddard and Miss Maryland International Tiffany Chipotle

Through this one event, Becky’s Fund has raised more than $350K in the past decade, allowing it to increase capacity to bring its programs to more schools as well as support more families.
