We headed to Inclusive Innovation Incubator co-working space at Howard University for the DC Shorts Film Festival's media preview party!
We snapped DC Shorts intern Natasha Riddle with Director of Programming Joe Bilancio and Assistant Director of Programming Jasmine Bryant.
Featured filmmakers Muhammad Bayazid and his wife, Samah Safi Bayazid. Their film, "Fireplace," tells the story of a Syrian boy who survived the bombing of his home by hiding in the fireplace. Guests enjoyed one-on-one access to many of this year's filmmakers during the party and a comprehensive update on this year's programming and festival schedule.
Guests enjoyed a variety of bites prepared by D.C. chef Aarum Hurse. We loved the roasted chicken sliders with honey jack cauliflower curry and cilantro sauce. Here, D.C. Shorts venue manager Readorah Stewart and Executive Director Kimberly Bush with Managing Director Paul Marengo.
In addition to the appetizers, guests also enjoyed an open bar with delicious cocktails, beer and wine to savor on the warm summer night. Here, filmmakers Ericka Boston and Via Bia join El Tiempo Latino's Rafael Ulloa.
