We went to the Caribbean Night Celebration at the Organization of American States, showcasing the cultures of the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Jamaica through music, dance, food and drinks. We snapped Alexandria Lundelius, Ad Astra's Rachel An, and USPTO's Milagros Jeancharles.
Guests enjoyed native Caribbean dishes like island fish, creole rice, rasta pasta, and fried plantains. For dessert, there was pineapple cake and fruit-filled empanadas. Here, Department of Interior's Tamara Williams, Options Inc's JD Speed, and SSA's Nancy Goldring.
Reggae and calypso music was provided by DJ Pumpkin from Barbados and a live band played Cuban-style salsa music during the dance lessons. Here, Clemson's Peter Blair, OAS's Renee Penco, and Embassy of the Bahamas' Mikhail Bullard.
Various embassies provided their island's rum for tastings. Here, Black Mature Singles' David Allison, DC Adventures and Sports Group's Cindy Terry, and Kaiser Permanente's Monica Maloney and Irene Odia.
