Bacon and Beer!

Yesterday we went to the DC Bacon and Beer Festival at Penn Social as top DC restaurants and brewers showcased their pork centric creations and inventive brews. We snapped Top Chef's Bart Vandaele of Belga Cafe and B Too, here with Ops Director Margarita Krivchikova and GM Dieter Samijn, who served Belgian bacon waffles with banana cream, chocolate mousse, bourbon caramel, topped with bacon.

Attendees voted for their favorites. DOD's Jason Albrycht, US Army's J.D. Gose and Andy Merritt, and Department of State's Jonathan Tartar tell us their faves were Dino's Grottos' Tuscan bacon with mushroom, cocchi rose, and finer mostarda, and Dogfish Head's Aprihop.

The event benefited Food & Friends, which delivers meals to DC area people with life-challenging illnesses. Here, Highline's Travis Smith and Hillary Sarich, Food & Friends' Lisa Jourdan, Hill staffer Katherine Russo, and Wyndom's Sean O'Neil.
