An Affair of the Heart!
Yesterday afternoon we went to the Wardman Park Marriott for the 67th annual An Affair of the Heart Luncheon to benefit the American Heart Association.
The two-fold mission is to raise funds and awareness of heart disease, the No. 1 killer of women. We snapped FOX5's Sue Palka flanked by Susan Dyes and Lori Capla.
The luncheon has raised $6.3 million over the past 13 years to fund AHA grants. Here, Kat Norton, Maggie Shannon and Marlene Malek.
The luncheon directly benefits heart research and education, pulling in over 1,000 attendees. We snapped AHA's Kara Laing, past chair Darby Ginger and AHA EVP Jeremy Beauchamp.
It was hosted by the Women’s Board, comprised of over 90 volunteer members and sponsors; co-chairs Katherine Vernot-Jonas, Frances Railey and Ellen Kay surround MedStar's Dr. Susan Bennett; right, AHA CEO Nancy Brown.
AHA was also given the Marriott Research Endowment, which will be used to advance research on treating and preventing heart disease. Here, Linda Shannon Miller, Dr. Susan O'Donoghue and Donna Arbogast.
