With Dow/DuPont Deal, Skadden Breaks Record

Skadden is the first law firm ever to advise on more than $900B of announced M&A transactions in one year, reports Mergermarket. (There are still three weeks left, and we sense a big merger between Christmas Cookies and National Stomach Corp.)

Skadden stands at $960B, and the enormous Dow/DuPont merger will push it past the trillion-dollar mark—making it the first law firm to break that barrier. The firm is advising E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Co on the combination, which it reports to be a merger of equals with an announced value of $130B.

It's a banner year for M&A transactions. The top financial adviser globally, Goldman Sachs, has broken its own record, advising on $1.521 trillion in M&A transactions (25% more than its previous record in 2007, says Mergermarket).
