Dewey Fraud Case Still Stands

Placeholder

A financial fraud case against three of Dewey & LeBoeuf's former leaders is going to a jury, after defense lawyers were unable to have it thrown out. (Though Judge Robert Stolz may dismiss some of the 100 counts against them first.) Former Dewey chairman Steven Davis, CFO Joel Sanders and executive director Stephen DiCarmine are accused by prosecutors of heading "a scheme to manipulate the fallen law firm's books" for years to hide its financial troubles from banks and investors. Elkan Abramowitz, above, who represents Steven Davis, is quoted saying "there is not one piece of evidence that Mr. Davis directed anybody to do anything improper." [WSJ]
