Record Night for Children's Law Center
A whopping $1.1M poured in for the Children's Law Center at its annual Helping Children Soar benefit on the Kennedy Center rooftop terrace. The Pro Bono Champion for Children award went to Crowell & Moring. Here's Crowell partner Dan Forman, pro bono administrator Anita Stephen, and public service partner Susie Hoffman.
More than 500 joined CLC to celebrate, including lawyers who volunteer as pro bono attorneys from over 100 firms. Outside on the terrace, we found WilmerHale's Angela Jaffee, Barbara Gabor, David Molot, and Kurt Kastorf.
The Children's Law Center, headed by Judith Sandalow, helped 5,000 children last year. Judith has led the nonprofit since 2000—growing its staff from three to more than 90 and bringing in hundreds of volunteer attorneys from law firms, companies, and government. Here are Excel Academy's Abigail Weiss, Wilson Sonsini's Sam Lipson, and Walker & Dunlop's Lindsey deButts.
CLC takes on a holistic approach to helping children—tackling health, family, and education. Here, Foundation for Excellence in Education director of federal policy (and former Hogan Lovells lawyer) Claire Voorhees with DC office manager Elizabeth Emery and national advocacy director Jess Langhaim.
