Notable chefs and restaurateurs, including Michel Richard, joined together Monday to celebrate the opening of Bread Furst. The bakery is from bread boss Mark Furstenberg (right), whom we snapped receiving pats on the back from Washington Post food contributor David Hagedorn (left) and restaurateur Saied Azali. Mark’s team includes Jack Revelle, who spent the past eight years making dessert for the First Family and Ben Arnold who worked as head baker at Range by Bryan Voltaggio.

The Van Ness address has a small storefront, but a step inside reveals a bright, airy space with high ceilings. It’s perfect for voyeurs—patrons can peer through glass to see the pastry kitchen and bread mixer in action. Bread Furst serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner along with their bread and pastry program.
