When The Perfect Gift Is A Stumper

Placeholder

Like many entrepreneurs, Tali Cohen started her business based on frustration. While planning for her wedding, the Cleveland native struggled to find gifts for out-of-town guests. So the next logical step was to build them herself.

After leaving a career in corporate finance in New York, Tali and her husband, a DC native, moved to the area. She started working on Welcome and Wishes nearly a year ago to sell curated gift boxes for occasions like new babies, weddings and new homes. She also sells customized boxes for corporate events and weddings. The e-commerce site launched two weeks ago.

Tali, whose marketing the service through Instagram, sources the items from trade shows, Etsy and distributor showrooms. The boxes range from $50 to $125 depending on size. She has two for the holidays: “Tis The Season, Taste the Season” and “Mrs. Claus Box.” She plans to expand in 2016 by sending boxes to influencers, providing small party favor boxes for events as a marketing strategy, and offering a build-your-box option.
