Verizon was hired recently to take USDA into the cloud under its Enterprise Data Center BPA. The company will provide its infrastructure-as-a-service to 34 USDA agencies and offices under the flexible agreement. Public sector markets SVP Susan Zeleniak says the conversation with federal IT leaders has changed over the past few years from questioning whether cloud will be successful to what applications should move to the cloud. The public cloud environment will be based in the Verizon-Terremark purpose-built Tier III federal data centers in Culpeper, Va., and Miami. (Coincidentally, a number of bytes are reporting vitamin D deficiencies and insisting they be assigned to Miami.)
