DC Loves Its Craft Beer

Placeholder

As attendees of the recent DC Beer Week festivities can attest, the area loves its craft beer. DC recently came in sixth on a list of US cities that love craft beer the most. The District has seen numerous craft breweries and beer bars open since DC Brau was founded in 2009 to help satisfy the thirst for the good stuff, including Bluejacket and City Tap House. An impressive 29.5% of all beer sold in the area is of the craft variety. The craft beer industry has seen some impressive growth nationwide with 700 breweries opening in the past two years and an additional 1,700 on tap for the future. The West Coast reigns supreme on the list of craft beer lovers by taking down all of the top five spots. Portland came in first with craft beer accounting for 43.5% of all beer sold. [DCSun]
