NIB Signs on at Exchange at Potomac Yard

Developers JBG Cos. and MRP Realty have their first office tenant for the Exchange at Potomac Yard, reports Washington Business Journal. The National Industries for the Blind, a nonprofit focused on curbing the 70% unemployment rate among blind Americans, will raise a 70k SF headquarters building with the option of expanding to 100k SF later. NIB will occupy 60k SF and sell the other 10k SF back to the developers to build retail. This is a big step up from the organization’s current digs at 1310 Braddock Pl in Alexandria, a restrictive 40k SF that inhibits its training programs. The new, roughly $40M headquarters has a larger training facility, a computer lab, a showroom and a conference center. The Exchange at Potomac Yard is a 1.9M SF mixed-use development with office, residential and retail space around a town square. [WBJ]
