Grant Thornton, one of the world's largest accounting firms, is consolidating roughly 1,000 employees from Alexandria and McLean into a new Rosslyn office.

The company reached a deal for 76k SF at Monday Properties' 1000 Wilson Blvd, the Washington Business Journal reports.

The building is part of Monday Properties 1.1M SF complex that has been rebranded as The Towers, including neighboring 1100 Wilson Blvd.

With the move, they also plan to add nearly 350 jobs and invest $15M in the new location. Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe approved a $1M front from a state business incentive fund to support the move.

After investing more than $70M in improvements, Monday signed Sands Capital Management to an 80k SF lease last March. The building is also home to WJLA-7 and Politico.

Monday recently hired an acquisitions expert and announced a switch from seller to buyer in the DC market. CEO Anthony Westreitch also told Bisnow they were adopting a new strategy to fill the 1812 N Moore St tower, the tallest in the region, by bringing in smaller tenants rather than looking for a major anchor tenant. [WBJ]
