The Christ Lutheran Church of Bethesda has filed plans for a redevelopment project that will include a 107-unit condo building on Old Georgetown Road.

The church and its nonprofit, Graceful Growing Together, have partnered with Buch Construction, which will build the condo building and the Graceful Growing Together Center. The partners have secured a loan from EagleBank to help finance the project, Bethesda Magazine reports.

Plans call for a nine-level condo building, and a seven-story, 64k SF center that will house a new church and recreation center. The Graceful Growing Together Center will also include nonprofit offices, space for child care and a commercial kitchen. The building is estimated to cost about $25M, $19M of which will come from the development deal with Buch, which will acquire part of the church’s properties at 8011 and 8015 Old Georgetown Rd.

Construction is slated to begin next year with delivery scheduled for 2019. During the construction phase, the church will hold activities at Imagination Stage on Auburn Avenue. This is the latest of several redevelopment projects in Bethesda slated to include condos, including the 8008 Wisconsin Ave project that Toll Brothers recently purchased from Douglas Development, with an eye towards developing roughly 100 luxury condominiums[BETH]
