Capitol Hill's 700 Constitution

Apartment Building Open For Leasing

Borger Management's Tom Borger – a long-time, valued customer of EagleBank – and Urban Structures' Terry Busby have opened 700 Constitution, Capitol Hill’s newest luxury apartment, which offers the contemporary feel of nearby Eastern Market and Barracks Row. In addition to its prime location, oversized windows, high ceilings, and terrace views of the Capitol and Washington Monument, the project stands out for its history. In 1888, the Casualty Hospital/Eastern Dispensary of DC moved to this location, the former home of Benjamin Leighton. Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon laid the cornerstone, the historic focal point of the new 700 Constitution. The hospital, renamed Rogers Memorial and then Capitol Hospital, closed 20 years ago and the site has sat vacant since. D.C. planners, working with the Capital Hill Restoration Society and the DC Historic Preservation Review Board, opened the doors to EagleBank’s customer Borger Management to create this salute to history, 700 Constitution. The rental homes are open for leasing now.
