The team behind the redevelopment of the 66-acre Walter Reed Army Medical Center redevelopment has unveiled new branding, an updated construction timeline and a fresh rendering of the first two new buildings.

Hines, Urban Atlantic and Triden Development are moving forward with Parks at Walter Reed, their 3.1M SF redevelopment of the campus along Georgia Avenue near D.C.'s northern border.

The team last year celebrated the development's groundbreaking, marking the start of demolition and infrastructure work. Construction is expected to begin next month on the redevelopment of an existing building to include 200 apartments designated for senior and veteran affordable housing, with an expected mid-2019 delivery.

The next step will be the construction of the first two new buildings on the campus, The Brooks and The Vale. The team Friday released a new rendering of those two buildings, which will total 390 residential units and 18K SF of retail at the corner of Georgia Avenue and Aspen Street NW. The housing units will be a combination of for-sale and rental and are expected to deliver in 2020.

Along with the rendering, the team launched a new website and updated branding for the project. Parks at Walter Reed's new slogan is: "Uptown & Unepected: A fresh way to live, work and play in Washington D.C." The developers, along with brokerage partners CBRE and Streetsense, are taking their show on the road Sunday for the International Conference of Shopping Centers' ReCON conference in Las Vegas.

The Walter Reed campus will host several events this summer, including the By the People Festival, the Jazz in The Parks concert series and the Fitness in The Parks series. The development will ultimately include 20 acres of open space in addition to its 3.1M SF of development.
