Peterson Plans Massive 1.2M SF Development To Surround MGM National Harbor

Those that thought National Harbor would reach its peak when the 23-acre, 1M SF casino and hotel development from MGM Resorts International delivers may have to think again.

The Peterson Cos has unveiled plans for a massive new development spanning 1.28M SF for the area surrounding MGM National Harbor. No work is expected to begin until after MGM delivers later this year, but the plans have been submitted to the Prince George’s County District Council, the Washington Business Journal reports.

The development is in the conceptual stages, but early renderings (including the one pictured) offer a sneak peak of what Peterson has in mind. Plans call for a 16-story mixed-use building adjacent to the MGM site. The project would include a 500-key hotel, over 700 apartments, timeshare rentals and 22k SF of retail. The massive project would also include 22k SF of “entertainment-related space,” restaurant space and an enclosed walkway to MGM.

MGM National Harbor, which is scheduled to deliver either later this year or early next year, will be quite the draw once the doors are opened. The hotel and casino development will feature world-class restaurants, high-class shopping and entertainment worthy of a spot on the Vegas strip. [WBJ]
