Old Schoolhouse To Be Converted To Nine-Unit Apartment Building

District Quarters is redeveloping a former schoolhouse on the border of the Columbia Heights and Park View neighborhoods into an apartment building.

The developer is proposing a three-story addition to the side of the building to create nine apartment units ranging from 846 to 1,888 SF, as well as roughly 4,200 SF of retail, Urban Turf reports.

The historic building was constructed in 1911 and used as a pan-African cultural center before becoming the NationHouse private school.

Down the road in Columbia Heights, an eight-unit vacant apartment building just sold for $2M. [UT]
