The Meridian Group yesterday announced media company Tegna is moving its HQ to the top floors of the 20-story Boro Tower in Tysons.

The 60k SF lease will begin in early 2019 when the building is completed. The 440k SF Boro Tower is part of the 1.7M SF first phase of The Boro, a mixed-use project near the Greensboro Metro Station in Tysons.

Tenga is the first office tenant Meridian has pre-leased for the upcoming development, a JV with Kettler. In May 2015, it announced Whole Foods would open a 70k SF store, its biggest in DC, as part of The Boro's Phase 1.

“Boro Tower will be a striking trophy building designed for tenants seeking state-of-the-art quality and design," says Meridian president and co-founder David Cheek. "It’s ideally suited for an innovative, forward-thinking company like Tenga.”

The first phase, with construction scheduled to begin this summer, will also include 700 residential units and 223k SF of retail. In total, The Boro will house more than 1,500 residential units, 1.8M SF of office, 316k SF of retail and 250k SF of hotel space.

CBRE repped both Tegna and The Meridian Group. Tegna is moving from its previous HQ in McLean.
