Lake Anne Redevelopment Gets Final Approval

Lake Anne Development Partners (LADP) got the go-ahead to begin revitalizing the 181-unit Crescent Apartments and the Lake Anne area on Tuesday, reports Reston Now. The project will add over 1,000 apartments and townhouses, 78k SF of office space and 58k SF of retail space in an effort to transform Reston’s oldest area. There will also be a grocery store, a 1.1-acre park, an outdoor amphitheater, a bike share station, and 12 public works of art. The historic interior of Lake Anne Plaza will be left untouched, but developers hope the surrounding revitalization will draw retailers and customers. LADP also agreed to provide 185 replacement affordable apartments and set aside 20% of the other units for affordable and workforce housing. LADP plans to break ground in early 2016 and the entire redevelopment is projected to take 12 years. [RestonNow]
