After announcing an $8.4B merger with Vornado earlier this month, it appears The JBG Cos is not slowing down its development pace.

JBG has submitted plans for a major Reston mixed-use project on 17.5 acres near the Wiehle Reston East Metro station, the Washington Business Journal reports.

The developer, in partnership with EYA and Chevy Chase Land Co, is planning to build 1.6M SF of development.

The project, east of Wiehle Avenue and south of Sunset Hills Road, north of the Metro stop, will include 1.2M SF of residential, 230k SF of office and 250k SF of retail.

Also near the Wiehle Reston East station, off Sunrise Valley Drive, Vornado has plans for a 12-acre mixed-use project that will include two residential buildings totaling 500 units, a 385k SF office building and a 175-room hotel.

Once the merger is finalized, the combined JBG Smith will control both of these major projects, one on either side of the Metro station.

JBG also has big plans in the works near Reston Town Center. The developer recently unveiled renderings of its 1.3M SF RTC West Phase 2, which will feature two residential buildings and three office buildings. [WBJ]
