Bozzuto Redeveloping Chevy Chase Shopping Center

The Chevy Chase Land Co is partnering with Bozzuto on a plan to tear down the Chevy Chase Supermarket to build a three-building mixed-use development.

The first building to go up will likely be a 283-unit apartment building anchored by a 50k SF grocery store, but CCLC doesn't yet know who the tenant will be, Bethesda Magazine reports.

The fate of the family-owned 58-year-old Chevy Chase Supermarket is unknown, but it appears unlikely it will anchor the new development. The developers unveiled detailed plans for the project at a public meeting Wednesday in Bethesda. They will soon submit applications to the Montgomery County Planning Department.

The first building would also include 19k SF for other retailers. In total, the three-building project will include roughly 530 multifamily units. Construction is expected to start in early 2018.

The second building would be 80 feet tall and include between 56 and 65 condominium units. The third would be 120 feet tall and include 183 apartment units. [BETH]
