Bisnow Scoop: Big Req Hits Market

Washington, D.C.

The National Association of Counties and National League of Cities are shacking up. Bisnow has learned the advocacy orgs are looking to co-locate in a large space somewhere in the region. NACo CFO David Keen (center, receiving an award from Lang CPA's Andrew Lang and West Lane & Schlager's Eric West a few years back) confirmed to us that the two orgs are hitting the market, and have selected JLL to guide the search. He adds it's too early to know how many feet NACo and NLC will take at new digs, since the firms still have to do space planning. But it'll likely be sizable—together at separate locations, NACo and NLC occupy about 87k SF and house about 160 employees.

NACo currently resides at Republic Properties' Republic Square on Mass Ave (pictured), while NLC is leasing space at Quadrangle Development's 1301 Pennsylvania. David says they're uncommitted to a particular location for the new space, though "leaning toward staying in DC." Sources tell us Ken Patton and Joe Judge are the JLL tenant reps leading the search.
