Total Retrofit of Bentall Centre Tower Pays Off

Bentall Centre Tower IV, part of one of the largest integrated office complexes in Canada (with four towers; 1.5M SF; and many wide open spaces) has been certified LEED Gold. And all it took was a total retro-commissioning of the 548k SF building, an impressive effort that ended up reducing the tower’s annual energy consumption by 4% and annual energy costs cut by 6%.

Ivanhoé Cambridge upgraded all of the tower's lighting to energy-efficient lamps, including a retrofit of the dual fluorescent lamp fixtures to a single lamp with a reflector — which has given employees of anchor tenant TD Canada Trust a lovely new glow. The lighting upgrade's also resulted in an annual savings of $63k in electricity costs and 920,000 kilowatt hours (that's the equivalent of powering 61 Lower Mainland homes).
