Big Plans For North Van

Vancouver Mixed-Use
Placeholder

A consultant hired by the City of North Vancouver to gather public feedback on North Van’s Central waterfront area (to be rebranded “The Shipyards”) presented to the City last week. Roger Brooks incorporated opinions from 1,000 survey responses as well as consultation with stakeholders in the city, and extensive research into local area markets. “Canada’s best gathering place,” will include a 15k SF skating rink, an amphitheatre, a ferris wheel (similar to the one in Seattle, and would be privately developed), water fountains, a three-storey, 60k SF commercial real estate building, gardens, and restaurants. The final report is due in a month (it's currently in the top car of the ferris wheel and has to come around again), at which point, the ball will be in council’s court.
