Target Expands GTA Footprint

Toronto Retail

Target on Friday opened the doors on two new southern Ontario locations. The stores, at Erin Mills Town Centre in Mississauga and a 106k SF space at Park Place in Barrie—a new building—bring the total of Target locations in Canada to 130, six of which launched this year, including at Toronto Stockyards in March, the retailer's first from-the-ground-up build in the city. This follows Target's aggressive 2013 expansion into Canada that saw the opening of 124 stores, but the racking up of nearly $1B in losses and a data breach that affected millions.
