Eight Sears Home Leases Transferred To Leon’s Furniture

Sears Canada is handling leases on eight Sears Home stores to Leon's Furniture Ltd. (No money will change hands, a spokesman told Furniture Today.) Sears Home locations in Etobicoke, Brampton and Mississauga will move to the Leon's banner, as will stores in Abbotsford, Langley, Richmond and Victoria. The Moncton Sears Home will be assigned to The Brick (bought by Leon's in 2012). The moves, part of Sears Canada's strategy to increase the productivity of its core brick-and-mortar store footprint, will drive "more business over less square footage," executive chair Brandon Stranzl said. The transferred stores reopen in September. [Furniture Today]
