The Race to Creative Office

Toronto Office

With the recession behind us, dozens of companies will be looking to move into more modern, open collaborative spaces. That's why we're excited for tomorrow, when we hold our Creative Office Summit. (Today is like Christmas Eve, except instead of Santa in the morning, you get Gillam Group prez Marcus Gillam, among many other great panelists.)

Gillam's most recent creative office project is the new HQ for Deluxe, the post production company at 901 King St W (image), which provides audio engineering services on behalf of Hollywood producers. Gillam was selected to manage construction for their relocation from their old offices on Adelaide St E. The new office totals 60k SF of office, technical recording space, and a data centre. “Creative does not necessarily mean expensive,” Marcus says.

Marcus ran the Boston Marathon and New York City Marathon, as well as several others. Long distance running is a “useful way of dealing with the stress that comes with running your own business,” he says. Added bonus: when training for a race, one learns to better use their time. “In racing, like in business, I get to set goals, and it’s very satisfying when you meet those goals.” In the Boston Marathon, highly emotional and an "incredible experience" after last year’s terrorist attack, Marcus finished 3,275th overall, at 3:05:18. In the 2013 NYC Marathon, he finished in 375th, at 2:53:13. (If you're quick like Marcus, there's still time to sign up for our event tomorrow.)
