Jack Layton Ferry Terminal Design Finalists Unveiled

Someday soon, queuing for a ferry to the Toronto Islands won’t be a traumatic experience—and we have renderings to prove it. Waterfront Toronto yesterday revealed the five design finalists for the redevelopment of Jack Layton Ferry Terminal, with the proposals on display for public input until the end of the week in the City Hall rotunda and on Waterfront Toronto’s website. Above, the proposal "Civic Canopy," featuring an open-air roof that resembles a wave. The design competition attracted entrants from around the world—including New York, Boston, Paris and Barcelona—as well as hometown heroes KPMB Architects, Quadrangle Architects, ZAS Architects and architectsAlliance.
