Kevric Real Estate Corp. has broken ground on an eight-storey, 145K SF office/retail building aimed at bringing the tech and creative industry to downtown’s Liberty Village.

“99 Atlantic will be a magnet for the technology, media, music and startup businesses that are increasingly migrating to Liberty Village," Kevric Real Estate Corp. President Richard Hylands said at the Feb. 28 groundbreaking.

“The main reason these companies are coming here is the labour they want to attract likes the quality of the neighborhood and what the neighborhood has to offer. Today it’s not so much where the executives live. It's more about where the workforce wants to live and where the workforce wants to work."

99 Atlantic will be in keeping with Liberty Village’s converted factory buildings and feature a concrete loft design and ceiling heights of 12 feet. The new building will complement the adjacent 40 Hanna, a 113-year-old factory that Kevric recently renovated.

Construction of the building is expected to be finished in early 2020.
