Aurora Sky Cannabis Facility To Be Largest In World

Placeholder

A groundbreaking ceremony was held south of Edmonton Friday on what will be the largest cannabis production facility of its kind in the world.

Upon completion, the 800K SF Aurora Sky cannabis production facility is expected to be capable of producing more than 100,000 kilograms of cannabis every year, according to Global News. The $100M project, built near Edmonton International Airport,  is expected to create at least 200 jobs. Coupled with an investment Aurora Cannabis is making in a Leduc County company called Hempco and Edmonton’s Radient Technologies, actual employment may turn out to be larger.

Aurora hopes to have construction complete by mid-2018, but will begin medical marijuana production by the end of 2017. Marijuana will be legal in Canada starting July 1, 2018.
