RioCan To Learn About Mixed-Use In London

A RioCan-Allied management team leaves for London this week to help get the Spadina Avenue and Front Street West project cooking; it's a five-day look at several shopping and mixed-use centres. (The RioCan-Allied-Diamondcorp JV includes the current Globe and Mail site.) RioCan SVP Jordan Robins tells us therearen'tany successful Canadian examples of the type of multi-use project the group envisions, but there are overseas. On a RioCan conference call last week, CEO Ed Sonshine talked about wanting to see a wow development comprised of mid-point luxury tenants that fall between what you see at the Eaton Centre and along Bloor Street. The group will also include Allied CEO Michael Emory and RioCan SVP of leasing Jeff Ross. Lots of driving, Jordan says. (If you ever need a break, there's never a professional soccer game far off.)
