Marilyn Monroe Citizen of the Year

Sam Crignano

Accolades for Mississauga's Absolute continue, with Community Living honouring the curvaceous Marilyn Monroe buildings instead of a citizen this year. Luckily, Cityzen's Sam Crignano was able to speak for the towers yesterday. The two Absolute towers were the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat's 2012 best new skyscrapers in the Americas, and a source with Germany's Emporis says they'll be in the running for 2013's world honours. Community Living supports 1,700 people with intellectual disabilities, and "the towers that put Mississauga on the map" will be honoured at CL's March 28 gala. Sam, meanwhile, is pumped about a 2.5M SF multi-use waterfront development south of the Distillery District and has retained Norman Foster Architects.
