Councillor Mike Layton (Ward 19 Trinity-Spadina) says a proposed east-west artery connecting Dufferin and Strachan--running just north of the railway line--would go a long way to ease traffic pressure in Liberty Village. We are in the middle of an environment assessment to figure out the path of the road, he says.

However, it will cost many millions at a time when the city is spending less. And I dont mean $5M, Layton says. There are some tools at the city [to help get it financed], but people in the neighbourhood will have to accept some responsibility if they want it built faster.
