A standard deal wouldnt get you a REX Awards nomination for lease of the year. There needs to be creativity involved, often under tight timelines. Thats exactly how the 220K SF Portside lease deal went down, says Oxford Properties industrial group director Alistair Pickering. (Cushman & Wakefield was also involved.) The Portside lease has been nominated in the Industrial Lease of the Year category for the awards gala, tomorrow night. We had to make significant alterations to the real estate to provide them with the functionality they needed, says Alistair. Portside is a B.C.-based logistics company that expanded into Ontario. The deal came together between March and April 2012, Alistair says.
