  Jim Halliwell

  Jim Halliwell is Managing Director of Acquisitions and Dispositions at Principal Real Estate Investors and has been with the firm for 19 years. He has been in the real estate industry for 30 years in areas of finance, asset management, workouts and equity production. At Principal, he is responsible for overseeing acquisitions and dispositions for the eastern half of the United States. He has been involved in equity transactions approximating $15 billion dollars. This investment activity includes structuring joint ventures, forward purchases, portfolio purchases and single asset acquisitions. These activities cover the risk spectrum from development to stabilized properties and encompass the four main product types of office, multifamily, industrial and retail. Mr. Halliwell is also a member of the Investment Committee for Principal Real Estate Investors and a contributing writer to the firm’s economic research team. Prior to Principal, Jim was a Senior Vice President at Signet Banking Corporation where he was in charge of the real estate workout area. He received an MBA from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Georgetown University. Jim is a member of the Urban Land Institute and International Council of Shopping Centers.

  Mr. Oliver T. Carr, III has been the President and Chief Executive Officer at Carr Properties Holdings LP since 2004. Mr. Carr co-founded Carr Capital Corporation in 1994 and served as its President and Chief Executive Officer until 2005. He was responsible for managing Carr Capital, and led managing major acquisitions and financial transactions at the firm. Mr. Carr served as a Director of WashingtonFirst Bankshares, Inc. and its subsidiary WashingtonFirst Bank from December 2012 to May 17, 2013. He served as an Independent Director of Alliance Bankshares Corporation since July 2007. Mr. Carr served as a Director of Alliance Bank Corporation since August 15, 2007 and Alliance Bankshares Corporation since July 2007.   Greg Meyer serves as the Washington, DC Regional Head for Brookfield Properties, which consists of 7 million square feet located in Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and suburban Maryland. He is responsible for setting the strategic direction and overseeing day-to- day operations of Brookfield’s Greater DC portfolio. In his 28 year career, Mr. Meyer has held executive level positions with Equity Office Properties, Trammell Crow Company and Penzance Company. Mr. Meyer holds a BA degree from Hamilton College and an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School. He is past President of the board of directors for the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District and sits on the board of directors for the District of Columbia Building Industry Association. He is a member of the Economic Club of Washington, DC and Federal City Council.   Tom Finan

  Mr. Finan successfully manages a project from the initial planning stages through completion, with a dedicated focus on the development execution. Mr. Finan guides a team of Trammell Crow Company and brokerage professionals in securing leases at terms that maximize each asset’s value and returns and prepares them for profitable hold or exit strategies. Mr. Finan’s development, transaction and ownership experience provide a unique insight into the strategic objectives of the property owners represented. Since returning to Trammell Crow Company in 1998, Mr. Finan has developed 3.9 million square feet of office space in the DC metropolitan area, including 2.8 million square feet of highly secure facilities and 2.1 million square feet of LEED designated space. He has been involved in 9.0 million square feet of leases. Mr. Finan is actively involved in the procurement of Federal Government tenants in buildings being, or to be, developed by Trammell Crow Company and all matters related to such transactions. Mr. Finan combines his broad based federal government leasing experience and extensive relationships with GSA and the brokerage community to successfully meet the budgetary constraints and special uses often needed by GSA tenants. Mr. Finan serves as the national practice leader for federal development and leasing. Most recently Mr. Finan inked a 357,000 SF build-to-suit lease for the Federal Aviation Administration in Fort Worth, TX, a 330,000 SF lease with the US Department of Agriculture at Patriots Plaza III; a 225,000 SF lease with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (Annex to Edgar J Hoover Building) at Patriots Plaza II and two leases with Customs & Border Protection totaling 181,000 SF at Sentinel Square I.

  Alec LeFort is the Regional Director for the East Coast. As one of VTS's founding employees, Alec has been integral in growing and scaling the sales organization, while adding many of the firm's largest customers to the client roster such as TIAA-CREF, Tishman Speyer, Equity Office, Boston Properties, and many more. While helping to oversee VTS's east coast sales operations his team has grown from 2 to 15 (company now has 170 employees total), including outside and inside sales, account management, and customer support, while also becoming VTS highest revenue generating region. Alec is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania (CAS '10) majoring in International Relations. VTS, a New York­-based software company, is the leading leasing and asset management platform built to provide real­-time leasing and asset management data to the top landlords and brokerage firms in the world.   David Cordell

  For more than a decade, David Cordell has served as a project designer and technical coordinator on ground breaking projects with a particular focus on interior environments and their interaction with occupant health and wellness and sustainability. As a Senior Technical Coordinator, sustainability leader, and Senior Associate in Perkins+Will’s Washington, DC office, his experience includes a variety of corporate, non-profit, healthcare, and science & tech projects for clients of various sizes. With more than eight years as the sustainability leader for the interiors practice in the DC office, David has worked on numerous LEED projects, several of which earned Platinum certification. David has authored several articles for Contract Magazine’s “Designing for Health” series and published research papers on various aspects of workplace design. David speaks regularly on topics related to healthy interior environments and has presented to conferences and forums at the American Society of Association Executives, NEOCON, the National Building Museum and the Urban Land Institute.   As President of Development, Brigg Bunker is responsible for managing the Development Division, where his main role is to oversee daily operations and execute the firm’s development plans. Previously, as Vice-President of Development, he was responsible for the underwriting, entitlement, financing, and execution of a diverse portfolio of development projects. Mr. Bunker joined Foulger-Pratt in 2009 following many years of success in private equity, multi-family development, and real estate acquisitions.   Steve Smith joined Cooper Carry in 1986 and was named a Principal in 2005. Devoted to the design of multi-tenant office buildings and office campuses, Steve has completed many complex projects during his tenure at Cooper Carry, primarily in mixed-use, office and corporate facilities. A number of Steve’s projects have received recognition including his work on the NASA Langley Research Center Headquarters in Hampton, Virginia which received the 2012 NASA Blue Marble Award for Excellence in Energy and Water Management. Steve is a member of several organizations including the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and is a registered architect.

  Barbara Anne (B.A.) Spignardo

  Barbara Anne ("B.A.") Spignardo is a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Business groups. She focuses primarily on real estate transactions and finance, as well as business and commercial transactions and lending. Before joining Shapiro, Lifschitz & Schram, she was an attorney with Locke Lord LLP in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office. B.A. has focused on real estate law since beginning her practice in 2002. She has represented lenders, borrowers, developers, sellers and institutional investors in sophisticated, high-dollar commercial real estate transactions including hotel, multifamily, assisted living, office and retail properties. Her work includes origination and servicing of construction and development loans, debt and equity financings, acquisitions, and dispositions. In addition, B.A. has worked on the review and negotiation of commercial leases and the analysis and negotiation of management and franchise agreements. She also is experienced at conducting corporate governance work, including drafting and reviewing corporate resolutions and officer certificates. Passion. B.A. is passionate about her work in the real estate sector – taking raw land and creating something useful for people, especially structures that encourage travel and exploration. She notes that the core of real estate work is land and relationships. As a “people person,” B.A. particularly enjoys building relationships and working closely with her clients to bring a vision to fruition. Early in her academic endeavors, B.A. found that she was most interested in discovering all of the facts, understanding various views in determining an outcome and working through to the best resolution. This, combined with her love of travel, led to her finding the perfect career in real estate law. Solutions. Partnering with her clients to ensure the most favorable outcome in any transaction, B.A. is a savvy negotiator and staunch advocate. Examples that illustrate her work include: • Assisted in representing multifamily developers in the origination of mortgage loans secured by apartment projects in Colorado and Texas. • Represented a shopping center owner in the refinancing of multiple mortgage loans secured by regional retail centers in Fairfax County, Virginia. • Represented a property owner and lender in sale and seller financing of a resort hotel in Arizona. • Originated a $35 million refinancing loan for an existing full-service hotel and golf course in Fort Worth, Texas. • Originated a seven-figure interim loan for refinancing a brand-name hotel, including a New Market Tax Credit component and construction loans for the construction of two brand-name hotels, each transaction involving the same principals and lender, which closed in rapid succession. • Represented a lender in a construction loan for the construction of an office/warehouse space pre-leased by the GSA/State Department in Lorton, Virginia. • Involved with forbearance in connection with a $10 million letter of credit facility and $4 million equity facility cross-defaulted and cross-collateralized, including land parcels and assignments of proceeds from various purchase and sale agreements as additional security. • Represented special and master servicers in connection with assumptions, modifications, restructurings, workouts and enforcement actions of securitized and non-securitized mortgage loans. • Represented lenders in foreclosure and enforcement proceedings with respect to mezzanine and mortgage loans and equity pledges in various jurisdictions, including enforcing guarantees and realization upon real and personal property collateral. • Represented lenders and agents in a variety of modifications, restructurings, inter-creditor negotiations and workouts.

  Jordan Goldstein, Gensler’s Global Director of Design and a member of the firm’s Board of Director, is an award-winning architect who uses design to help clients unravel complex problems and craft relevant solutions that evolve their businesses and brands.   Katie Ross

  Katie Ross is a Senior Sustainability Manager with Cushman & Wakefield’s Sustainability Services. Joining Cushman & Wakefield in October 2012, Katie’s responsibilities include conducting LEED feasibility studies and project management, sustainability assessments, Energy Star benchmarking, and managing energy efficiency and sustainability projects. Katie also works closely with our managed portfolio on energy management tracking and compliance with local benchmarking legislation. In her tenure at the firm, Katie has helped with the certification of over 10 million SF of LEED office space. Highlighted projects include managing the LEED Platinum Recertification of World Wildlife Fund’s headquarters, which recently was selected as USGBC National Capital Region’s LEED Existing Buildings Project of the Year and overseeing the LEED for Existing Buildings: Gold certification for Portrait Building in Washington, DC., which achieved a reduction of over 30% in energy usage in one year. Prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Katie worked at The Cadmus Group where she served as Deputy Project Manager supporting the firm’s contract with the Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR Commercial and Industrial Certification program. In this role she managed a team that provided technical support to ENERGY STAR partner firms.   Hans G. Nordby, Managing Director leads CoStar Market Analytics and CoStar Portfolio Strategy (formerly Property and Portfolio Research), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company. Mr. Nordby joined PPR as a Research Strategist in July 2002. In that role, he managed research projects for REITs, opportunity funds, plan sponsors, and commercial banks. Most recently, Mr. Nordby served as Director of Advisory Services, where he led risk management, investment strategy, and other projects for some of the world’s largest commercial real estate investors. Prior to joining PPR, he worked in portfolio management and acquisitions for a pension fund advisor and as a commercial real estate strategy consultant with KPMG Peat Marwick.
