Prior to joining KingSett, Aliyah spent over 16 years in Investment Banking at TD Securities, most recently as Managing Director, Real Estate, where she advised clients on a wide variety of mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, initial public offerings and equity and debt, public and private offerings. Aliyah holds an MBA, with distinction, from Western University’s Ivey School of Business and an BSc in Neuroscience from Dalhousie University.

  Jonathan Turnbull

  Mr. Turnbull joined the firm in 2020 and is the Head of Canadian Transactions and Business Development. As Head of Canadian Transactions, Mr. Turnbull is responsible for sourcing Canadian transactions and forming/developing joint venture relationships across the country. In addition, Mr. Turnbull is responsible for developing Canadian focused business strategies, leveraging local expertise/relationships and Harrison Street’s global capabilities into new targeted product offerings for our global and Canadian investors. Prior to joining Harrison Street, Mr. Turnbull was a Managing Partner of Alignvest Student Housing and Canadian Student Living Group where he oversaw the development, launch and execution of a dedicated Canadian student housing fund which grew to become the largest owner/operator of student housing in the country. He was responsible for the fund, including transaction sourcing, diligence, financing, property/asset management, investor relations and operations. Prior to Alignvest Student Housing, Mr. Turnbull was the CEO of the first SPAC ever in Canada, Dundee Acquisition Ltd., and the head of Dundee Private Equity which targeted investments in Canadian real assets. Mr. Turnbull received his HBA in Business Administration at the Richard Ivey School, Western University in London, Ontario.

  Jeff Appleby joined CIBC in 2002. Mr. Appleby is responsible for the origination and execution of a variety of real estate investment banking transactions including IPOs, equity and debt offerings, M&A and financial advisory work. Throughout his time at the firm, he has worked on hundreds of public equity and debt offerings raising billions of dollars for real estate issuers and has worked on M&A advisory assignments totaling $20B. Mr. Appleby currently sits on the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Foundation of Greater Toronto.

  Stuart Smith

  Stuart Smith is the General Manager of the Turner Toronto head office. With over 20 years of AEC industry experience, he has worked with numerous project teams, owners, consultants, and clients. Stuart provides executive-level leadership and management on projects of various market segments, including commercial buildings, institutional facilities, data centres and industrial spaces. He is a strong communicator and a problem solver who supervises risk evaluation, contract negotiations and pricing decisions. Stuart’s career with Turner began in 2013 as the Business Development Manager. He became the Special Projects Division Business Manager in 2016 and General Manager in 2019. During this time, he has collaborated with various departments to ensure safety, ethical and compliance requirements are met on every project.
