  Walter Burnett, Jr.

  Walter Burnett, Jr. was born in Chicago, Illinois and his family lived in the former Cabrini Green Housing Complex. His father was the local precinct captain in the area and often took Walter with him to work the precinct; planting the seeds that would ultimately sprout into a successful political career. Burnett first ran for office in 1995 and he is presently serving his sixth term as Alderman of the 27th Ward. As Alderman, his objective to serving constituents and representing a diverse community has been about balance. He has an outstanding reputation of treating everyone fair. Burnett, after earning a Certificate in Mechanical Drafting, a Certificate in Tool and Die Design, and an Associate Degree from Southeastern Illinois College, he attended both Harold Washington College and the University of Illinois at Chicago. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern Illinois University. Burnett is the Chairman of Pedestrian and Traffic Safety and a sitting member of seven committees; Aviation; Budget and Government Operations; Rules; Contract Oversight and Equity; Economic, Capital, and Technology Development; Workforce Development; Zoning, Landmarks, and Building Standards Committee. Burnett also serves on the Board of the following organizations: John Howard Association of IL., Neighbor Space, Financial Straight Talk, Choose Chicago, Northwestern University Settlement House Board, Harold Washington advisory board, CHA Alumni Association, St. Leonard’s Ministries advisory board, Family Guidance Center board, Archi-Treasures, Haymarket Center advisory board, the YMCA Youth and Government advisory board, and the Ferrer Foundation. Burnett is also a member of St. John Masonic Lodge, Shriners, and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity; and a former member of the Elks and Near North Kiwanis. Burnett is a strong advocate for affordable housing in the City of Chicago and all developments within his ward are required to have an affordable component to the project. He has developed a strong reputation as an advocate for affordable housing and continues to be a leader on this issue. Burnett was appointed Committeeman of the 27th Ward Organization by his mentor, Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, (and former Committeeman of the 27th Ward) on July 6, 2013. Burnett is a member of First Baptist Congregational Church, where he serves as a Deacon; he is married to Darlena Williams-Burnett. They have two sons; Jawaharial “Omar” Williams 10th District State Representative of IL., Walter Redmond, and three grandchildren.

  Carla M. Agostinelli has over twenty two years of experience developing communities through her extensive work in finance, administrative management, community organizing and progressive leadership. She has served on the boards of numerous organizations whose missions focus on the empowerment and advancement of women and underrepresented persons. Her leadership has affected economic growth across the entire Chicagoland area, most recently the Fulton Market District, one of the nation’s fastest developing neighborhoods.   Amos studied Hospitality Business, graduating from Michigan State University. After relocating to New York, Amos gained a wide variety of Hotel experience throughout the city. Amos enjoyed working at some of the best boutique properties such as Soho Grand and The Standard Highline, before moving into the Luxury segment. Amos oversaw the edition and renovation of some of the most high end suites in the city at both Four Seasons & at The Mark Hotel as Director of Rooms. In 2016 Amos joined The Hoxton as The Hotel Manager of The Hoxton, Williamsburg (their first North American Property in Brooklyn, NY). After successfully opening, Amos moved back to his roots in the Mid-West and transitioned to the opening General Manager of The Hoxton, Chicago in Fulton Market.

  Bill Williams is working to build a better and more equitable Chicago. As founder, principal and managing member of KMW Communities LLC, Williams plays an important role in Chicago's ongoing real estate renaissance. Williams is consider a thought leader in the field of urban renewal and community wealth building strategies. The Chicago native— grew up on the city’s West and South sides communities that he now invests and serves. While working full time, with a young family, Williams earned a B.S. from DePaul University, and an M.B.A. from the University of Notre Dame.   After opening 20 restaurants over 20 years, James Beard award-winning restaurateur Rob Katz has become one of the nation’s foremost visionaries in the field of hospitality. Together with partner Kevin Boehm, Katz combined his deep love of food, design, and people to build a group that has produced some of Chicago’s most iconic restaurants. Originally from Vancouver, B.C., Katz moved to Chicago in 1987 to work at the Chicago Board of Options Exchange. When he started bartending on the weekends, Katz quickly developed a fascination with the business of creating an atmosphere and an experience that brings people together. He opened four highly successful bars and nightclubs in the 1990’s, including Katacomb, Elbo Room, and Waterloo, the latter two establishing him as one of the pioneers of Lincoln Park’s live music scene. In 2002, Rob Katz partnered with Kevin Boehm, combining their experience, expertise, and vision to form Boka Restaurant Group. Together, they opened distinct restaurants across Chicago and the US, including Boka, GT Fish & Oyster, GT Prime Steakhouse, Girl & the Goat, Little Goat Diner, Duck Duck Goat, Swift & Sons, Swift & Sons Tavern, Momotaro, The Izakaya at Momotaro, Cabra, Cira, Lazy Bird, GG's Chicken Shop, Sugargoat, Alla Vita, Girl & the Goat Los Angeles, Cabra Los Angeles, and Laser Wolf Brooklyn.
