Tom Kozaczynski has been with Compass Health since March of 2013. Tom’s previous positions include managing major corporate giving for the Seattle International Film Festival, foundation and annual giving at North Helpline Food Bank, the University of Washington, and the YMCA of Greater Seattle where he worked on program management and budgeting. Tom has been actively involved in the Association of Fundraising Professionals Washington Chapter, Advancement Northwest, serving on multiple committees to support the philanthropy sector in our region. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Everett where he represents Compass Health and serves on various committees, including as a board member on the Everett Rotary Youth Foundation. Tom holds his Bachelor Degree in Economics and Law, Societies, and Justice from the University of Washington, and holds his Master of Public Administration from the Evans School of Public Policy and Governance at the University of Washington with an emphasis on non-profit management and fundraising. At Compass Health, Tom is in charge of major foundation, corporate, and individual giving, and oversees the growth and strategic development of Compass Health’s Development Department. Tom’s favorite part about working at Compass Health is connecting the passions of donors and funders in our community to the amazing and life-changing work being done by our staff each day. He believes we have the most highly trained, professional, caring, and mission driven people of any place that he has worked.

Curley L. Bonds, M.D., oversees all clinical practices for the Los Angeles Country Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) as well as the full range of programs that function to engage and stabilize clients by bringing them into the Department’s community-based system of care. Dr. Bonds is a psychiatrist with extensive experience in a variety of clinical, academic and research settings. Most recently, he was the Chair of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at Charles R. Drew University School of Medicine in Los Angeles and the Medical Director for Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services. His areas of expertise include healthcare disparities, cross cultural psychiatry, psychosomatic medicine, and collaborative healthcare. Dr. Bonds has won numerous teaching and advocacy awards including Chief Resident of the Year in 1996 and The Exemplary Psychiatrist Award from the National Alliance on Mental Illness in 2009. He is active with several professional organizations including the American Association of Community Psychiatrists, the Association of LGBTQ Psychiatrists, the Black Psychiatrists of America and the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Bonds is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a Fellow of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. He is a past president of the Southern California Psychiatric Society and the recipient of their 2018 Distinguished Service Award. He completed his B.A. in sociology at Emory University and earned his M.D. from Indiana University School of Medicine.

Kyle serves as Director of Development for Caddis and, as such, he oversees the pursuit and execution of all medical office, ambulatory surgery, senior housing and both sub-acute and acute care hospital development projects across the United States. He works with both hospital and physician clients to implement strategic plans and structure investment opportunities. Kyle manages the development and construction team, ensuring that all projects are designed, underwritten, financed, and built to achieve the best outcomes for clients. Kyle served for more than nine years as an officer in the U.S. Navy. Among his many accomplishments, he was awarded two Air Medals with Combat ‘V’ and was selected as a Naval Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN) instructor. He has more than 16 years of leadership experience in the commercial real estate sector. Kyle has led development teams and developed commercial properties for both publicly traded and private companies, including his own firm, in markets throughout Texas and the United States delivering over 5 million square feet of projects. This included serving as Senior Vice President & Director, Development & Investment, at Trammell Crow Company‘s Houston office, where he developed more than 1 million square feet of commercial space in one of the firm’s top- performing business units. Kyle graduated with Merit from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering. He also received a Master of Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Outside of work, he serves on the YMCA Advisory Board and as a Boy Scout leader; and enjoys history, sports, flying, fishing and golf.

Alison Birnie is a seasoned leader with over 30 years of experience. Currently she is the Clinical Director for multiple service lines at Huntington Hospital, a level II Trauma center in southern California. Among her responsibilities is primary oversight for all clinical operations for the hospital’s inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units. Under her leadership the outpatient programs successfully transitioned to telehealth during the pandemic meeting the needs of our patients and offering group therapy outside of the normal service area. She has a varied resume which includes, clinical risk management, quality, performance improvement and patient safety. Additionally, she worked as a critical care, hospice, home health and transport nurse. Alison has a Masters in Healthcare Administration and is currently enrolled in a dual MBA/DNP program.

As behavioral and mental health practice leader, Brian has a deep understanding of current research and trends in mental health design and uses his expertise to create innovative, research-based solutions that improve the patient experience in healthcare environments. Brian has served as the mental health expert on numerous projects around the world, holding roles in planning, design, and consulting for inpatient, outpatient, community, and crisis services, guiding project teams towards improved outcomes in mental health environments. At HDR, Brian leads the behavioral health design studio, introducing current trends and design strategies to a broader team and works with smaller focus groups to discuss and develop strategies to improve the mental healthcare environment for patients and staff. Brian has presented on the topic of behavioral and mental health at multiple conferences around the country and is a consistent contributor to thought leadership in his field. Brian enjoys finding opportunities to share his passion and expertise with the next generation of architects and designers in his local community. He is an active participant in the FGI Health Guidelines Revision Committee, focusing on behavioral health design. He is an adjunct associate professor at the University of Kansas, has served as a design critic and juror for multiple design studios focused on mental health, and contributes to an AIA advocacy committee on mental health design. He mentors colleagues throughout HDR as well as architecture and design students at numerous universities including University of Kansas, University of Minnesota, and Rochester Institute of Technology.

Darci leads Boulder Associates’ Orange County office, with clients such as Hoag, UCLA, Providence, City of Hope, and CommonSpirit (formerly Dignity Health). She emphasizes innovation in design and delivery, and has embraced lean approaches to both to bring value to clients and projects. She maintains a deep knowledge of the business of healthcare and an eye towards the future of healthcare delivery to fulfill her role of being a trusted advisor to her clients.

As PAE’s Chief Marketing Officer, Julie leads and inspires a team of marketing, graphics, and engineering design professionals. An integral part of the leadership team, Julie helps to strengthen relationships with clients and industry partners. PAE has a long history in healthcare design working with Stanford Health Care and Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) as well as on projects such as the University of Washington Behavioral Health Teaching Facility and Tacoma Behavioral Health. With over two decades of experience, Julie serves on the board of the American Institute of Architects San Francisco Center for Architecture + Design and spearheads the Women in Leadership committee at her firm.
