  Sheila Johnson

  Sheila C. Johnson is Founder and CEO of Salamander Hotels & Resorts (SHR), which operates a collection of properties along the east coast and in the Caribbean. SHR includes the equestrian-inspired Salamander Resort & Spa in Middleburg, Virginia, which has been awarded the distinguished Forbes Five Star rating. The collection also features Innisbrook in Tampa Bay, which is home of the annual PGA Valspar Championship; The Henderson, a luxury beach resort in Destin, Florida; the spectacular Hotel Bennett in Charleston, South Carolina; and Half Moon in Montego Bay, Jamaica, which is opening a new resort experience called Eclipse this fall, 2020. As Vice Chairman of Monumental Sports & Entertainment, Ms. Johnson is the only African-American woman to have ownership in three professional sports teams: the NBA’s Washington Wizards, the NHL’s Washington Capitals (2018 Stanley Cup Champions), and the WNBA’s 2019 World Champions Washington Mystics, for which she serves as President and Managing Partner. In 2017, Ms. Johnson was named on Forbes Magazine’s Top 50 America’s Richest Self-Made Women. WE Capital, a venture capital consortium to support and invest in female-led enterprises with a goal of promoting social impact and generating financial returns was spearheaded by her in 2016. She also serves on the board of the Greater Washington Partnership, which seeks to strengthen the region’s global position as a center for commerce and innovation. Ms. Johnson has long been a powerful influence in the entertainment industry, starting with her work as founding partner of Black Entertainment Television. She has served as executive producer of documentary and feature films, including The Butler, directed by Lee Daniels. Ms. Johnson is founder and chair of the Middleburg Film Festival, an annual celebration of independent films. The festival is dubbed by the Washington Post as “an itty-bitty Cannes…” and referred to by RogerEbert.com as “…the place to be during Oscar season”. It continues to attract Oscar worthy films such as Greenbook, La La Land and 2019’s Oscar winner Parasite. In 2006 Ms. Johnson was named global ambassador for CARE, a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty by empowering women because they have the unique power to help entire communities escape poverty. “Sheila’s I Am Powerful Challenge” was instrumental in helping raise funds for CARE’s important work. She served as a member of Accordia Global Health Foundation’s International Council, rallying support for the foundation’s efforts to overcome the burden of infectious diseases in Africa. A fervent supporter of education, the Sheila C. Johnson Fellowship at the Harvard Kennedy School supported a cohort of 50 fellows – emerging leaders dedicated to improving the lives of the underserved. As a board member of the Jackie Robinson Foundation, she created the Rachel Robinson International Fellowship program - providing the scholars the opportunity for international service and study abroad. Ms. Johnson endowed two chairs at her alma mater, the University of Illinois - School of Music. At the University of Virginia, the Sheila C. Johnson Center for Human Services was established to provide evaluation and treatment in various specialties of childhood development.

  Debbie Harmon

  Ms. Harmon, Co-Founder and CEO of Artemis Real Estate Partners, is an industry leader and entrepreneur with more than 30 years of experience in real estate. Ms. Harmon, along with Penny Pritzker, co- founded Artemis Real Estate Partners in 2009. She has oversight responsibility for the firm, establishing and managing the firm’s strategic direction. Prior to co-founding Artemis, Ms. Harmon spent 17 years establishing and leading the principal investing business at J.E. Robert Companies, Inc., a global real estate investment firm where she was President and Chief Investment Officer from 1997 until her departure in 2007. Ms. Harmon currently serves as Chairperson of the Pension Real Estate Association Foundation, a member of the Board of Directors of Urban Alliance, a key leader and former trustee of the Urban Land Institute, and a member of the Advisory Boards of Jasper Ridge Charitable Fund and the BlackIvy Group. She also serves on the Advisory Council for the NYU Stern Center for Business and Human Rights and as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Ms. Harmon was previously appointed by President Obama to serve as a Commissioner for the White House Fellows program and was a member of the Board of Directors for Forest City Enterprises [NYSE: FCE] and Avis Group Holdings [NYSE: AVI]. She previously served on the Board of the Pension Real Estate Association and on the Board and Executive Committee of Women for Women International. Ms. Harmon previously served on the Advisory Board for the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and the Boards of Trustees for The Sidwell Friends School, The National Cathedral Elementary School, and The National Children’s Research Center in Washington, D.C. Ms. Harmon was recognized in 2020 by Barron’s on its inaugural list of the 100 Most Influential Women in U.S. Finance, and was recognized by EY as an Entrepreneur of the Year® 2019 Mid-Atlantic Award winner and National Finalist. She was included in Real Estate Forum’s Women of Influence Hall of Fame in 2018.   Janis B. Schiff is an attorney in Holland & Knight's Washington, D.C., office and co-chair of the firm's National Retail Development and Leasing Team. Ms. Schiff has extensive experience representing property owners, asset managers and investors in connection with the development, redevelopment, sale, acquisition and leasing of retail, residential, condominium, office, industrial, and mixed-use properties and venues. She represents clients in all facets of commercial real estate, including foreign investment in the United States, public-private partnerships, government leasing, financial workouts and restructurings, acquisition and sales contracts for improved and unimproved properties, and borrower and lender representation, and retail and office leasing.   Kaleena Francis Lee

  Ms. Lee is a Senior Development Manager at Jair Lynch Real Estate Partners specializing in complex urban mixed-use development projects including financing, zoning/entitlements, design, permitting, construction, leasing, and disposition. Since joining Jair Lynch in 2003, Ms. Lee has provided development and construction management expertise on multiple projects for investors and a distinguished list of public, private, and non-profit clients. Ms. Lee is currently managing The Heritage at Old Town redevelopment which will include the construction of 598 new apartment homes in two new buildings including 140 affordable homes through the federal Housing Assistance Program (“HAP”), along with site improvements of Wilkes Street Public Park. Concurrently, Ms. Lee is managing the development of a 2.14-acre assemblage located directly adjacent to the Rhode Island Ave Metro station and the Metropolitan Branch Trail, with the Greater Mount Calvary Baptist Church. The assemblage includes 590 new apartment homes and is designed to uphold high quality standards, include innovative green construction elements, and deliver a truly unique, signature destination. Recently, Ms. Lee completed The Kelvin and eNvy at 1250 Half Street SE in the heart of the vibrant and burgeoning Capitol Riverfront neighborhood, just steps away from the main gate to Nationals Park. The iconic building includes 439 luxury apartments and 60,000 square foot of entertainment destination retail. Ms. Lee also recently finished managing the revitalization of the 600 block of H Street NE, delivering not only 307 Class A apartment above 10,000 square feet of retail but also creating an authentic and creative residential community with of neighborhood-serving retail called ANTHOLOGY DC. Ms. Lee also oversaw the extensive renovation of a fully leased 80,000 square foot office building with prime retail spaces. In addition to managing revitalization and renovation efforts, Ms. Lee provides development management services to third party clients that require her expertise in balancing limited budgets, varying scopes of work, and delivering projects on time.

  Katie Lenss is Managing Director for Rockefeller Group. In this role, Ms. Lenss directs the development process for the company’s joint venture projects in the Mid-Atlantic region with a focus on executing future mixed-use and industrial developments in Washington, D.C., and throughout the region. Representative projects include 1901 L Street NW, a 200,000 square foot office redevelopment that delivered in 2020, and 600 5th Street NW, the upcoming redevelopment of WMATA’s headquarters into a 400,000 square foot trophy quality commercial office building. Ms. Lenss was previously a director for Hines. While at Hines, her projects included 1213 Walnut Street, a 322-unit 26-story multifamily high-rise in Center City, Philadelphia, and The Residences at CityCenter, a $200 million condominium project in downtown Washington, D.C. Prior to joining Hines, she worked for Host Hotels & Resorts in asset management; for PM Hotel Group as Director of Facilities for a portfolio of 15 Hilton/Starwood Hotels; and for Gateway Hospitality Group, where she was a financial and development analyst.   I grew up in Silver Spring, MD, attending Paint Branch High School with my older sister and younger brother. I graduated from Lafayette College with a Civil Engineering Degree, structurally focused. In the last six years I have worked my way from Field Engineer to Superintendent at Whiting-Turner. During my construction career I have worked on the MGM National Harbor, 1701 Rhode Island, and most recently, the City Ridge Development in Tenleytown. My favorite work has been lowering the foundations of the historic Fannie Mae building along Wisconsin Avenue in order for the first Wegmans in DC to be built underneath. I also enjoy engaging with middle and high school students to enlighten them about opportunities in STEM and the construction industry.

  Erin Cotter is Leasing Director for BXP in the Washington D.C. region. Erin joined BXP in 2019 and assists with the leasing strategy implementation of BXP’s 5M SF+ Reston Town Center (RTC) office portfolio. Erin and her team secured the majority of leasing activity in the Dulles Corridor in 2021, which was of the top performing submarkets in the country for the year. Since joining BXP, Erin has participated in 80 lease transactions totaling over 2M SF and stabilizing the RTC portfolio where the current vacancy rate is ~6%. Prior to joining BXP, she worked for Cushman & Wakefield for 6 years representing tenants and landlords in the Washington D.C. region; and started her career for Davis Carter Scott in marketing.   Emalia Tamanikwa

  Emalia Tamanikwa is an experienced real estate professional with a record of providing customer-focused solutions and driving performance in fast paced environments. As a forward thinker and hyper connector, Emalia draws inspiration from her environment and experience while inspiring others to identify opportunities of disruption. She is adept in accentuating similarities and differences across affinity groups to create spaces that bring community members together. As Development Associate for EDENS, Emalia manages underwriting models, analyzes and evaluates financial, operational and market data, and plays a pivotal role in all aspects of the development process, including acquisitions, entitlement, design, construction, marketing and leasing. Concurrently, Emalia is lead retail developer for the site that is home to two historically landmarked buildings located across Howard University Hospital in the Duke District. The Bond Bread and WRECO parcels, to which Howard University awarded EDENS the development rights for the 2.2-acre project, at completion, will have 650K SF of development and contain 440 units, a 180-key hotel and 50K SF of Retail GLA. She is also managing the National Research Center for Health Disparities (Lot 3 Building); this 3-acre site is currently home to a 315-space surface parking lot and will be redeveloped into a mixed-use project with 430 residential units, 260K SF of office/medical space, 40K SF of ground floor retail. Emalia’s experience in real estate began at JLL as a Project Manager, where she managed the proposal development process, interpreted quantitative data, provided market research and developed data collection systems and other strategies to optimize statistical efficient and data quality used for business development.  After three years in this role, she was promoted to a Financial Analyst position where she oversaw business process improvements.  Emalia has been a mentor for several years, mentoring high school and college students by providing guidance and advice as they evaluate next steps in their careers. She has been an advocate and ally for her mentees at various stages of their lives, hosting study sessions to help students prepare for SATs, or giving career advice to post-college grads.

  With nearly a decade of experience in commercial real estate, Sofia leads The Brand Guild’s real estate team and crisis response services. She specializes in developing and executing impactful media messaging and strategies as well as providing ongoing counsel to clients in real estate, government, sports, and tech. Sofia’s successes include masterminding the press efforts of The Wharf, one of the largest waterfront development projects in the country, resulting in 3 billion press impressions in the opening week alone.   Christine Espenshade

  Christine Espenshade joined Newmark in 2019 as a vice chairmen in the company’s Washington, DC, office. A 25-year multifamily real estate veteran, Christine has substantial expertise in the sale, financing, and capitalization of multifamily investments throughout the United States with a specialty in the Washington, DC region. During her investment sales career, she has managed the sale or recapitalization of more than $9 billion in multifamily investments. Prior to Newmark, Christine co-led JLL’s national multifamily platform while also leading a Mid- Atlantic-based multifamily sales and finance team. Bryn’s work led to a consensual plan of liquidation resulting in full payment to all creditors and partnering with a national developer to redevelop the site into upscale residences. Bryn is the firm’s largest annual revenue producer and has generated an increase of more than 10 percent in revenue each year since 2009. She currently is a member of the firm’s Creditor Rights, Reorganization and Bankruptcy Practice Group, Distressed Real Estate and the Real Estate Law and Transaction Practice Group. Tiffany currently serves as the Senior Directors of Fund Investments where she is responsible for pipeline development and the deal origination strategy. Prior to joining LISC, Tiffany served as Vice President and Senior Relationship Manager at KeyBank Real Estate Capital, one of the largest capital providers of affordable housing nationwide.   Malanda Worrell is the Senior Vice President of Market Strategy for the Mid-Atlantic region. In this position, Malanda partners closely with JLL’s Mid-Atlantic Market Director to develop and execute various growth and productivity initiatives throughout the region. Malanda provides data-driven metrics to inform strategic and operational decisions. During her 36-year career, Roberta has executed transactions totaling more than 30 million square feet of space, has transacted eight building sales, and has advised Fortune 100 companies, financial institutions, health care companies, institutional owners and private developers on real estate matters, transactions and strategic planning. Roberta received a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering degree from Pennsylvania State University, as part of the University's 5-Year Engineering Program.

  Kyle Schoppmann serves as the President of CBRE’s Mid-Atlantic Division, which includes offices in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. Kyle oversees the day-to-day strategic direction, performance and growth of the Mid-Atlantic Division for all CBRE lines of business. She holds responsibility for the development and management of our professionals, directing the creation and implementation of tools and training that drive their success. Kyle joined CBRE as Managing Director, Brokerage Services, in 2007, assumed responsibility for Capital Markets as Senior Managing Director in 2009, and in 2014 was promoted to Executive Managing Director. She served as the head of Occupier Services and Executive Managing Director for CBRE’s Tri-State region prior to leading the Mid-Atlantic Division. Kyle has more than 20 years of experience in sales strategy, training and professional development. She was previously a Consulting Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers and then IBM, where she worked closely with C-level executives on complex change initiatives. Prior to IBM, she held various sales and marketing positions at the Dow Chemical Company. Kyle currently serves as a member of CBRE’s Executive Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Council. She is also a member of Leadership Greater Washington (Class of 2019), Federal City Council and the Economic Club of Washington, D.C. Kyle has been named to the Washington Business Journal’s first-ever “Greater Washington’s New Guard” list, the Power 100 List and is a Women Who Mean Business Honoree. In 2019, Kyle was named to Washingtonian's list of the Most Powerful Women in Washington, and in 2020, she was featured in Virginia Business Magazine’s Virginia 500 – The 2020 Power List.

  Mr. Marquez, Sr. EVP and President of Commercial Banking joined the Company in August 2011. Mr. Marquez has over 29 years of experience in the banking industry. Prior to joining EagleBank, he established the real estate lending franchise for HSBC for the Washington, DC market. Earlier he was the head of Commercial Real Estate lending at Chevy Chase Bank from 1997 to 2005 and previously held various lending positions at The Riggs National Bank in Washington, DC after starting his career at the Chase Manhattan Bank in New York.

  As a business executive and consultant, Kathy creates and implements critical business operations solutions for commercial real estate companies in Metro DC. With nearly four decades of experience, she understands the drivers, constraints, trends and unique value in our submarkets, product types and fee services. She has been responsible for revenue producing divisions in property management, asset management, construction, development, leasing and sales ranging from $25M to $100M.
