  Kim Driscoll

  Kim Driscoll is the 73rd Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Together, Governor Healey and Lieutenant Governor Driscoll are the first all-women executive team to lead Massachusetts. Since taking office, Lieutenant Governor Driscoll has spearheaded several administration priorities and initiatives, including significant involvement in the state’s affordable housing production, economic development, improvements to the public education system, and serving as liaison to cities and towns across Massachusetts. Driscoll also chairs the Governor’s Council, the Governor’s Council to Address Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, and Human Trafficking, the Seaport Economic Council, and co-chairs the STEM Advisory Council. Prior to Beacon Hill, Driscoll served for seventeen years as the Mayor of Salem, Massachusetts and is a proud graduate of Salem State University.

  Carl Rodrigues

  Carl J. Rodrigues serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Harvard Allston Land Company (HALC). Prior to joining HALC, Carl completed seven years serving in various real estate and economic development roles for the City of New York. Most recently he served as the Chief Operating Officer of the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and helped manage key aspects of the agency’s mayoral transition. He also served as Chief of Staff to the NYC Deputy Mayor for Housing and Economic Development, acting under both Deputy Mayors Vicki Been and Alicia Glen. As Chief of Staff, he managed the development, tracking, and improvement of City policy and programs focused on equitable economic growth. Prior to joining NYCEDC, Carl was involved in residential and office acquisitions in Los Angeles and worked in global securities at Goldman Sachs. Carl grew up in Leominster and earned his B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Tufts University. Carl is also a graduate of UCLA’s Anderson School of Management and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

  Patricia Filippone

  Trisha Filippone is Vice President of Business Development and Client Services for Education. She works closely with regional and national leadership to develop client relations and implement growth strategy for the company’s Northeast Region, specializing in public and private K-12 education, as well as higher education, with a focus on Public Private Partnership delivery. She has spent the last 13 years in higher education, at institutions including Harvard, MIT and UMass, and over 32 years working on developing, financing, and constructing nearly $10 billion of assets in Massachusetts. She is a recognized leader in the industry and a Subject Matter Expert on Public Private Partnerships. Prior to joining Suffolk, she served in various positions at the University of Massachusetts including Executive Director of the University of Massachusetts Building Authority (UMBA). As Executive Director, Filippone oversaw an ambitious $3.1 billion growth plan that includes the building and renovation of academic and research buildings, dormitories, and athletic facilities on all five UMass campuses. She was involved in numerous capital projects to improve teaching, learning and student life. Filippone joined UMBA in 2012 as CFO and assistant secretary-treasurer. As CFO, she managed all aspects of finance, including controller, treasury, risk management, business systems, and capital planning. In addition she served in various positions at The Broad Institute, including CFO and assistant treasurer, senior financial officer and controller. Previously, she was director of Allston Finance at Harvard University and 12 years at the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority. Filippone is a member of the Massachusetts’s Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Treasurer’s Club of Boston, Financial Executives International, Boston Women in Public Finance, Professional Women in Construction, and the Society for College and University Planning.

  Mahmood Malihi

  As Co-President, Mahmood is responsible for co-managing Leggat McCall Properties and identifying new business opportunities. As a senior principal in the firm, he is a member of LMP’s Investment Committee and Executive Committee. During the past 30 years with Leggat McCall Properties, Mahmood has had an active role in more than $2 billion worth of investment and development activities. Prior to his current role, he held the position of Chief Operating Officer for the company and was responsible for LMP’s third-party, fee-for-services activities, which were in excess of 14 million square feet of real estate. Prior to that, Mahmood was the Senior Vice President of Leggat McCall Properties, directing the Company’s Mid‑Atlantic development activities from Washington, D.C. Mahmood is currently acting as a real estate advisor to several institutional owners, including Harvard University, Northeastern University, Tufts University and The First Church of Christ, Scientist on a wide range of strategic and transactional real estate matters. Prior to joining Leggat McCall Properties in 1983, Mahmood worked in general contracting and civil/structural consulting in the Boston area.

  Jason Wills

  Jason is responsible for all aspects of American Campus Communities’ on-campus development projects – including market analysis, project feasibility, design, team oversight, and managing relationships with our college or university partners. Every university has a unique vision for the student experience. Jason works closely with our partners to customize housing solutions that best serve the student body as well as the university’s mission and values, architectural design standards, financial goals, and operational needs. To date, Jason has spearheaded 64 projects totaling nearly $3.2 billion in development value – including 17 of our 25 largest projects. Throughout his career, Jason has worked in every functional aspect of student housing – beginning as a Resident Assistant and marketing coordinator with Century Development. One of ACC’s longest-tenured employees, he joined the company in 1997 as a Marketing and Leasing Manager. Over the years, Jason’s role expanded into business development, corporate marketing, and development oversight. Most recently, he served as SVP of Marketing and Development. Jason was deeply involved in the genesis of the 21st Century Project, a groundbreaking initiative of the Association of College and University Housing Officers-International (ACUHO-I). Working with fellow members of the ACUHO-I Foundation Board, Jason helped envision the student housing of the future and outlined the planning principles that are transforming our industry. Under Jason’s leadership, ACC has combined these principles with our experience and operational expertise, resulting in on-campus developments that fully support and enhance the academic experience of today’s university students. Outside of work, Jason is a big supporter of the arts and serves on the board of Ballet Austin.

  Peter Herman, AIA, is a Principal and Creative Director at Ellenzweig, an architecture and planning firm in Boston that specializes in facilities for science teaching and research. He joined the firm in 2007 and has 30 years of architectural design experience with a focus on science and engineering facilities. For every design project, Peter explores environmentally sustainable water and energy management strategies; always in conjunction with innovative and compositionally memorable building design. He strives to conceive buildings, spaces, and places that stand in harmony with their surroundings while supporting both the basic and transcendent needs of the people who use them. Peter has completed projects for institutions that include Brown University, Michigan State University, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, University of Vermont, and Stony Brook University.

  Sarah Gallop is Director of Government and Community Relations at MIT. She works primarily with the City of Cambridge and tries to bring a collaborative problem-solving approach to the Institute’s “Town Gown” interactions with residents, public officials, and advocacy groups. Sarah also works with the Commonwealth. Her areas of focus include land use, development, housing, economic development, innovation, sustainability, transportation, taxation, equity and inclusion. Before joining MIT, Sarah worked for the City of Boston in various planning and development roles. Sarah received her BA in political science from Bates College and her MBA in organizational behavior from Boston University.

  Located in Stantec’s Boston office, Kate Ryan is a Interior Design Principal with nearly 20 years of experience in both workplace and higher education. Kate brings an integrated approach to each project and her ability to connect with people is apparent through her design. Co-leading Stantec's Boston academic market sector, she is responsible for mentoring staff, leading clients through all stages of design and synthesizing her client’s objectives into outstanding interior design. Notable clients include: MIT, Yale and WPI. Most recently Kate completed a large-scale interior renovation project of a 16-story tower on Yale University's esteemed Science Hill. Kate holds a Bachelor's degree from University of Colorado at Boulder and the Parsons School of Design.

  Jennifer Schultz is a partner at the law firm Nixon Peabody, LLP, and the Leader of the Nationwide Real Estate Development Team. Jenn specializes personally on large-scale complex mixed-use development in and around the Boston area, Worcester, and Providence, RI. She and her team have successfully permitted over 10 million square feet of development over the last 6 years, including over 4 million square feet of lab/R&D space. Nixon’s national development team includes more than 26 lawyers and professional staff across seven offices.
