  Trent specializes in real estate development, as well as project and construction management. He has more than 30 years of experience in the industry and has been intimately involved in overseeing the development of more than $600 million in real estate projects. Prior to forming Trent Development, he was a partner of The Metropolitan Companies, established in 2007. Previously, Trent was the managing principal of TGM Management LLC, where he managed the development of a 700-acre master planned golf course community, the renovation of a mixed-use 235-unit condominium conversion and the construction of a new 66-unit apartment building. Prior to TGM Management LLC, Trent was a partner in both The Sterling Group and The Triple T Group, where he managed the renovation and adaptive reuse of numerous apartment building and warehouse conversions. Trent is known for his ability to coordinate complicated projects in order to achieve great results. In addition to an extensive Seattle-based portfolio, he has worked on projects in Japan, Vancouver, BC; San Francisco and Camdenton, Missouri.

  As District Manager for PCL Construction Services, Inc., Tyler Kautz is responsible for overseeing all of PCL’s major projects in the Pacific Northwest. He began his career at PCL in 2005 and worked his way up through the operations and project management side of the business before taking on his current role in 2021. During his time at PCL, Tyler has made significant contributions to the success of notable high-rise residential projects including The Bravern Signature Residences, Murano Senior Living, SPIRE Condominiums, Olympic Tower at Skyline and KODA Condominiums. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran with an overseas tour to Fallujah, Iraq, Tyler is an alumnus of the University of Washington’s Construction Management program where he graduated at the top of his class. He achieved his Associate DBIA designation in 2015, is a LEED Accredited Professional and holds a Safety Trained Supervisor Certification. Born and raised in Snohomish, Tyler is deeply rooted in the Puget Sound community. Tyler continually pursues knowledge and takes time to share his own experience with others. He has served as a mentor to numerous individuals within the company and beyond through his involvement in ACE Mentoring (Architecture Construction Engineering), ANEW (Apprenticeship and Non-Traditional Employment for Women) and is active on the Construction Industry Advisory Council (CIAC) for the University of Washington Construction Management Program. When not at work or helping to mentor others, you can find him, along with his wife and six children, enjoying various outdoor activities and supporting wildlife conservation foundations.

Cathy is responsible for the overall financial reporting of the Company, coordinating construction and permanent financing options, investor reporting and relationships, community relations and overseeing implementation of the business plan. Prior to joining kōz, Cathy was the President & CEO of a Seattle-based micro-housing development, construction and property management Company. Cathy has held partner positions in national, regional and local CPA firms and has held both CEO and CFO positions at SEC reporting community banks. Cathy has spoken at a number of real estate conferences as well as historically been a regular speaker at various national and local banking conferences. She has served as a board member for regional and state-wide banking associations.   Emily Thompson has an expertise that spans the spectrum of real estate development having worked with non-profits, for-profits, and market rate developers on commercial and residential projects for the last 18 years. At GMD she has worked on the preservation and development of affordable housing across the Pacific Northwest, and she currently has approximately 500 units of new housing in Seattle under planning and construction. Throughout Emily’s career in affordable housing, she has consistently demonstrated her commitment to the community with the development high quality housing in places of high need. Emily is involved in the Housing Development Consortium of King County as the co-chair of the Tax Credit Affinity Group, and she is a co-chair of the Affordable and Workforce Housing product council with ULI Northwest. She attended the Master’s Degree Program in Urban Planning, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree, from the University of Washington in Seattle.

  Laurie Olson

  Laurie joined the City of Seattle’s Office of Housing in January of 2012.  Her responsibilities include oversight of the Capital Investments Team, administering the permanent funding and bridge loans in excess of $200 million annually. Laurie also coordinates policy, finance, and funding decision issues with other funders, including public agencies, private lenders, and intermediary organizations.  Recently she has piloted the scaling of permanent supportive housing for homeless individuals and launched the Rapid Acquisition program, purchasing nine new construction buildings meant for the open market. Prior to coming to the City of Seattle, Laurie worked for the LISC affiliate: Impact Capital, and was responsible for underwriting loans, providing initial technical assistance, and evaluating under-performing properties. Prior to Impact Capital, Laurie worked for the Snohomish County Office of Housing, Homelessness and Community Development as a Grants Analyst. During her time with Snohomish County she served as the Affordable Housing Production Plan lead, managing homeownership, public services and Operation and Maintenance contracts. Laurie’s career includes work in philanthropy, direct services and managing a small business. Laurie also serves as an ongoing volunteer with Aurora Commons, a nonprofit that operates much like a day shelter offering clothing, hygiene, laundry, restrooms, to name a few, but they like to call it a neighborhood living room where love and human connection is at the widest part of the Commons hierarchy of needs. A graduate of Seattle Pacific University, where she majored in Political Science with an emphasis in history.

  As Charter Construction’s Vice President of Commercial Construction, Luke Hagler has been involved with leading the Commercial Team for over ten years. His experience and knowledge have served him well as he has guided the Commercial Team to successfully complete an incredibly diverse portfolio of projects. Luke values Charter’s ‘family-like’ work culture.   BJ Kuula

  Benjamin Kuula is the President and Chief Investment Officer at American Capital Group (ACG) and is responsible for their operations and investment strategy throughout major markets on the west coast. He has 15 + years of real estate experience in development, construction, acquisition, property management, asset management and finance. Mr. Kuula has completed over $2.5 billion in real estate transactions, which includes the acquisition of $1.2 billion + in value-add multifamily assets with over 2,000 unit renovations completed. Since 2015 he has raised over $1 Billion in equity.   Dan Byrnes is the Chief Executive Officer of Security Properties. He leads the Investment Committee and is a member of its Board of Managers. Mr. Byrnes has broad responsibility for strategic planning, growth, and the financial health of the organization. In addition, he is involved in all aspects of SP’s business units, including acquisitions, dispositions, asset management, development, private equity funds and property operations. Mr. Byrnes has completed over 150 transactions totaling $6 billion since joining Security Properties in 2012.   Ben Cherney is the vice president of acquisitions for Tokyu Land US. Ben heads all equity investments across the capital stack in institutional and middle-market assets. During his 17 years in the real estate business, Ben has had the opportunity to work on all of the primary asset types with a particular focus on multifamily and retail. In his time at Tokyu Land, Ben has acquired approximately $1.5B in assets, investing nearly $700M of equity capital. About Tokyu Land US Corporation: TLUS is the US arm of the Japanese real estate investment and development firm, Tokyu Land Corporation, a subsidiary company of the publicly traded Tokyu Fudosan Holdings Group (3289:JP).
