  As President & CEO of Life Science Washington (LSW), Marc sets the strategic direction, guides policy priorities, and directs business operations to ensure our members have the talent, investment, and partnerships needed to sustain the industry’s robust growth and solidify Washington state’s reputation as one of the top life science clusters in the nation. Marc also serves as the Chair of the Life Science Washington Institute, which is an affiliated non-profit focused on supporting life science entrepreneurs and growing start-up companies in Washington. Before taking the helm as President & CEO, Marc served as Vice President, Public Policy & External Affairs for LSW. Prior to joining Life Science Washington, he served as Director of Policy & External Affairs for Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), where he was actively involved in creating and advocating for several statewide bioscience initiatives including the Life Sciences Discovery Fund. He was also deeply involved in a range of PNNL’s philanthropic science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education partnerships and science education initiatives. Prior to moving to Washington state, Marc held a variety of policy and consulting positions in Washington, D.C. Marc has served on several gubernatorial task forces including the Washington Clean Energy Leadership Council and the Life Science & Global Health Advisory Council. His board service includes a number of statewide trade associations, including Washington Technology Industry Association (WTIA) and the Washington Clean Technology Alliance (WCTA). Marc loves playing tennis, waterskiing, mountain biking, and Oregon Pinot Noir.

  Todd has over 30 years’ of experience in the building industry. Todd is a ‘native’ Seattleite as he moved to Seattle back in 1972 as the billboard, ‘The last one to leave Seattle turn off the lights?’ was situated along I-5. Todd graduated with a B.S. in Construction Management from the University of Washington in 1989 and joined Sellen Construction as a Project Engineer. Over a 28-year career at Sellen, he oversaw many iconic projects in the Northwest including Swedish Issaquah, a 600K SF downtown highrise, UW Foster School of Business, Paccar Business School, and UW Medicine South Lake Union. Todd moved on from Sellen in 2017 and joined Urban Visions where he spent five-years and was an Executive Vice President overseeing a $2.0B portfolio of commercial real estate developments in Seattle. Most recently, Todd has joined McKinstry as a Senior Director of Operations. As a longtime Seattle area resident, Todd enjoys many Northwest activities such as skiing, golf, fly fishing, and hiking. He spends a lot of time at his home in Suncadia with his wife and two children. And, of course, his best friends, Georgie and Wally (4-year and 2-year old Bernese Mountain dogs).

  Based in San Francisco, Leslie is a director of HOK’s global Science + Technology practice. Leslie has dedicated the past two decades of her career to research and laboratory facilities. She has led the lab planning, programming and design for more than 150 projects, including several R&D Magazine/SEFA “Lab of the Year” award winners. Leslie has spoken at dozens of worldwide conferences and authored numerous articles and reports. She is on the Board of Directors of the Scientific Equipment and Furniture Association (SEFA), and a member of the International Institute for Sustainable Labs (I2SL), Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), American Institute of Architects (AIA).

  Steve Brooks, President of UMC, brings his expertise as a mechanical engineer with over 24 years of experience to the forefront of the life sciences industry. Fueled by his unwavering passion, creativity, and curiosity related to design, building, and project efficiency, Steve constantly seeks innovative approaches to drive progress. Throughout his notable career, he has honed his skills primarily in the biotech design realm, spearheading more than 10,000 biotech renovation and retrofit projects. From the very start of his professional journey, Steve has been an integral part of the Fred Hutch Cancer Center, serving as a steadfast partner in designing and constructing their high-performance, cutting-edge life sciences facilities. His extensive involvement with Fred Hutch and other life sciences and biotech research centers has granted him a profound understanding of the industry's demands and complexities. Steve's expertise spans across various divisions of the UMC business, including engineering, special projects, major projects, industrial, and virtual construction/BIM. This comprehensive grasp of the design-build construction industry empowers him to navigate its intricacies and adapt to diverse challenges with ease. Driven by a strong belief in giving back, Steve is committed to sharing his vast knowledge with aspiring professionals.   Mr. Bilotto is Senior Vice President of The RMR Group (Nasdaq: RMR) and is responsible for asset management oversight for all office, industrial and retail properties managed by RMR, and is also responsible for design, construction, development and redevelopment across the United States. Mr. Bilotto is also President and Chief Operating Officer of Office Properties Income Trust (Nasdaq: OPI), a REIT focused on owning, operating and leasing buildings primarily leased to single tenant and those with high credit quality characteristics like government entities. Mr. Bilotto has 15 years of experience working in the commercial real estate industry, specializing in asset management, leasing and development. Mr. Bilotto earned a Bachelor’s degree in Financial Management from the University of New Mexico and is an active member of the National Association of Office and Industrial Properties.

  Chris Angus joined Unico Properties with over 20 years of industry experience. His past responsibilities have included leading preconstruction efforts, supporting constructability analysis, systems selection and integration, sustainability, cost and scheduling feedback.   Hilary Hehman

  Hilary Hehman is the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Alliances at Fred Hutch, where she creates and executes strategies aimed at growing the institutional portfolio of strategic partnerships that connect Hutch researchers with commercial partners to achieve the Center’s mission – curing cancer. Hilary started her career as a bench scientist working in the Developmental Chemotherapeutics and Experimental Immunology Divisions at the National Cancer Institute before transitioning to study both business and law. Hilary is able to utilize her understanding of cancer, intellectual property, and business to create collaborations with industry and venture capital funders that accelerate the translation of academic science to the clinic and into the commercial market. Hilary previously held a similar role at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. She was also formerly a Senior Policy Analyst at the Judicial Council of California where she applied her scientific background to empirical legal research that generated hard data to evaluate statewide judicial policy initiatives. Hilary holds a B.S. in Microbiology from Miami University of Ohio, an M.S. in Biochemistry and Entrepreneurial Biotechnology from Georgetown University, and a J.D. from the University of California-Hastings College of the Law.

  Margaret McCormick

  Margaret McCormick, PhD, serves as executive director and chief operating officer of Benaroya Research Institute at Virginia Mason (BRI) and also as vice president of research for Virginia Mason Medical Center. Dr. McCormick joined BRI in 2017 and previously served as BRI’s chief administrative officer, with direct oversight of operational functions including human resources, finance, facilities and safety. Over the past two decades, Dr. McCormick’s work has centered on launching, managing and investing in life science companies, frequently at the start-up level. Most recently, she served as CEO of Matrix Genetics, an industrial biotechnology company, spun out of Targeted Growth, Inc. Prior to that role, she held positions as chief operations officer at Targeted Growth, as a principal at Integra Ventures, as a consultant for McKinsey & Company and as Director of Business Development for the biomedical incubator and technology investment fund at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. McCormick received a PhD in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Recently, she served as a trustee for both the Pacific Northwest Research Institute and the Life Science Discovery Fund Authority and is currently the Vice Chair and member of the Executive Committee of the Life Sciences Washington board.

  Since joining DCI Engineers, Eric Pope has become a major contributor of engineering solutions for a variety of project types throughout western Washington. He is known for designing mid-rise and high-rise buildings, life science buildings and tenant improvements, residential, and higher education facilities. Eric’s technical expertise with framing systems makes him an essential structural engineering resource for AEC professionals and developers. His most notable life science work includes the Boren Office Lofts in Seattle. Eric oversaw the building’s conversion from a Class A office design into a life science building. His success with the project brought him valuable insight about fulfilling the functional and structural needs of life science work environments. He is also a key team member on the design for Northlake Commons, a mass timber office/lab building on Lake Union.

  Jonathon Marioneaux

  Mr. Marioneaux, Clark Construction's Program Manager for the Life Science sector, has worked in human/veterinary diagnostics, pharmaceutical, and contract research/manufacturing (CDMO) in multiple capacities for nearly 10 years. He has held senior roles in laboratory operations and has founded two companies, Sanyal Biotechnology (MetabAxis) and Delta9 Scientific. Through both companies he built, retrofitted, and ran high throughput/high sensitivity laboratories, high complexity/containment animal research, and manufacturing development operations. He is an expert in laboratory workflow, end-to-end processes management, and design-management as well as lab equipment procurement and optimization. Additionally, he has detailed experience in laboratory and vivarium regulatory accreditation for numerous national and international agencies. Finally, he is an expert in biological and chemical hazardous materials characterization, handling, transportation, and disposal.
