Amazon's Lab126, a research and development unit, is moving into offices at 75 East Santa Clara St. in downtown San Jose.

Lab126 has taken at least the eighth floor in one of the Towers @ 2nd buildings and may be eyeing an additional floor, sources told the Mercury News. The eighth floor has about 14K SF. Two floors could house about 140 employees.

Lab126 has been the force behind the development of the Kindle e-reader, Fire tablet, Amazon Fire TV and Amazon Echo.

Harvest Properties owns Towers @ 2nd, and WeWork is leasing 75K SF at the property, covering five floors of one building, including the eighth floor. WeWork is handling the new digs for Lab126, but declined to comment on the Amazon unit moving in.
